Dr Aigbokhai Ohiwerei, Board Member, The Namu Project
Dr. Aigbokhai Ohiwerei is an experienced General Practitioner dedicated to advancing community health and social impact. As a board member of The NAMU Project, a UK-based charity, he plays a strategic leadership role in planning and delivering initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty in West Africa. Through a focus on education, healthcare, and skills development, Dr. Ohiwerei helps empower communities and drive sustainable change.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Ohiwerei volunteers as a GP lead, working closely with local NHS teams and third sector organizations to address health inequalities among ethnic minority groups. His commitment to reducing disparities and improving access to care underscores his broader mission to support vulnerable populations.
Previously, Dr. Ohiwerei served as Lead GP on the Wessex Local Medical Committee and the Wessex GP Faculty Board, where he advocated for his colleagues and contributed to the development of the regional medical community.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Ohiwerei enjoys spending quality time with his family. He is also a avid runner and has completed the Abbott World Marathon Majors, often regarded as the ‘golden grail’ of marathon running. He leverages his passion for running to support charitable causes, raising funds for organizations such as the MS Society and The NAMU Project. Dr. Ohiwerei values time with his family and believes in the importance of maintaining mental well-being through physical activity and community engagement.
