Bill Wright Biography

Bill joined Windsor Leadership as a Trustee in 2023. He served in the British Army for over 30 years, ending his career as a Major General. As an infantry officer in The Rifles Regiment he has led organisations from 30 people up to 8,000, serving across the UK and on operations and training all over the world. He has filled a number of varied roles including being the chief of staff to a 52,000 person organisation, delivery of large scale organisational and transformational change programmes, training roles and acting as the chief of staff of the Army Headquarters. As Commander Sandhurst Group (2016-19), he ran the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the 18 University Officer Training Corps and was the Army’s Head of Leadership Development. In his last role he was responsible for the career management for the Army (c.100,000 people) and as General Officer Scotland he led engagement with the Scottish Government, institutions and major state ceremonial events. He was made a CBE in 2020. An alumnus, he attended the Emerging Strategic Leaders Programme in 2018 and, having benefitted hugely from the experience, he remains in touch with his group.

Now embarked on something completely different, in November 2023 he became Dyson’s HR Director for UK and Poland. The daily business of working in a global team, delivering major change programmes, operating with the Tech sector and supporting Dyson in its strategic planning is proving to be a fascinating and rewarding journey.
