Martin Horton Biography

Martin’s expertise rests in the fields of leadership and organisation development, change leadership and executive and leadership team coaching. With a wide range of international experience drawn from the private, public and charity sectors, he has worked successfully with leaders for over 13-years helping them to awaken their best selves so that they can function more effectively and lead more skilfully. He is passionate about enabling people to: make a real and measurable difference; embrace diversity and inclusion in all its guises; and work better together for mutual, team, organisational and societal benefit. Strongly values-led, his practice is founded on creating a climate where people feel safe and open/receptive to change and challenge.

Prior to establishing his leadership and organisation development practice in 2012, Martin had a successful 30-year military career in various communication engineering and learning and development roles with the Royal Air Force. He has led many teams in very different contexts, worked strategically at the heart of UK Defence in Whitehall, served on operations in the Gulf, operated as a change leader helping Defence’s naval procurement organisation deliver business change and was the UK Defence lead on top team leadership development as Director Defence Executive Leadership Programme.

Possessing a Master of Defence Administration degree from Cranfield University (thesis on Transformational Leadership), Martin holds the NTL Certificate in Organisation Development, is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Martin also works pro-bono with a variety of charities, supporting them with leadership development and coaching. He is an alumnus of Windsor Leadership, having attended the Emerging Strategic Leaders programme (2006), and has worked with the charity for many years as a volunteer facilitator.
